Just some things to think about. At our annual meeting in January, transponders were discussed at length. We will be running them again this year with very little or no change from last season. I think they worked pretty well after Stacey came back on board. With that being said, the discussion moved to possibly requiring HCMA members to have their own transponder. Please don't misunderstand what I just said. There has been NO decision like that at this time, but personally I think that is where we will be headed. I just wanted to get people thinking about the possibility. If you go to www.mxtransponder.com you will find opportunities to lease a transponder at a reasonable cost. Some food for thought. I know that Kade and I have had our own for a couple of years and it sure is nice not having to deal with getting the right one at the starting line and then stopping to get it turned in after every moto. Take it what it is worth. See you at the races.

What would be the plans for those individuals that only ride 1 or 2 HCMA events, out of state travelers or those who only want to buy a temporary for an event or two going to do? Will they be required to buy transponders or will there be some available for them to use? This is the first I have heard of making riders buy transponders, so I am curious what will happen if this goes through.
Thanks.

Hey Jason. No chance that the HCMA would require every rider to own a transponder. Was just brought up as a cost saving option by a board member, for riders that attend the majority of the races. Enough of us understand the issues with that can of worms.
That being said, I agree with Mike. Riders like my family would benefit from owning a transponder. This month I hope to order one for us. If enough riders owned them HCMA could save man power and hard costs at the local races.
All good thoughts for discussion in the future...

Jason
Great question and one that needs to be considered. I would think that if this rule was put in place that the HCMA would have a number of transponders for temporary riders to rent for the day. At a reasonable cost of course. This is good discussion for if and when this gets brought up again at the state meeting.
