The LCRA Spring Grand Prix is being rescheduled to March 30th, due to the recent snow fall and pending weather forecast. We want the best track conditions we can get. Looking at the extended forecast for March we should have a nice day to ride on Sunday the 30th. More details to follow.

Would love to go hard to do on a Sunday if you live 250miles away, Saturdays would offer a better opportunity for people to travel to events

The problem is that it takes most of the day Saturday to set and mark the course. And because we do cross the MX track and in some cases use the MX track to connect our East and West Grand Prix tracks we cannot close the MX track during the week to set up the course. So Saturday is our set up day. We will offer free camping Saturday for those who want to come early. And because of the Grand Prix format you can choose what races you want to do and maybe get out of the track early. We will be posting a schedule soon.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Grand Prix format let me give you an idea of what to expect. The Grand Prix kind of bridges between MX and XC. Not as intense as MX and not as long and as difficult as XC. We use both single track trail and some easier sections of the MX track. We set up a 4-5 mile course marked by arrows and ribbon. The terrain is mostly natural with some man made areas when we use the MX track. This race is designed to be fun and give the rider lots of seat time without all the do or die jumps of MX and the intense tree and rock crossing of XC. Don't get me wrong we do try and make it a challenge but one that is doable and fun for everyone. The start is dead engine and the moto will last between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the class you are in. You will be given a parade lap before each moto so you can get an idea of the course. Registration is open most of the day so you don't have to show up until an hour before your moto. Also you can sign up for another class anytime you want providing a class is available. We don't have a 50cc class but you can contact me and we can discuss allowing a 50 rider in the 65 class. But let me warn you that the rider would need to be an expert 50 rider. Bottom line is it just isn't the type of race for 50s. If you want to Iron Man it more power to you but most people will do 1-2 moto's. Bottom line this is a great laid back race where you can get a lot of seat time and have a ton of fun. And really isn't that what its all about anyway!

Here are the fees for the upcoming Grand Prix; Beginner, Int., Jr., is $20.00. Expert (payout class) is $35.00. Iron Man (5 races) is $60.00. And best of all there will be no gate fee for this event. The course is drying out and should be great for the 30th.

Just a reminder that the LCRA SPRING GRAND PRIX is this coming weekend in Helena. The course is dry and the weather looks to be good. We may get some lite showers this week but all should be good to go. Make sure to bring food and drink with you as we don't have any concessions at this event. Also bring spare parts as the TrackStuff Trailer is still in hibernation. Please have a bag for garbage.(pack it in-pack it out) Hope to see everyone this weekend. Remember that the track will be open Saturday night for those of you who want to camp. No gate fee at this race!

We are still a go on the Grand Prix this weekend. Had a little snow last night. With temps in the 50's today we should be good. Saturday we are expecting some showers which should put some moisture in the ground for race day. Sunday morning might be a little chilly so dress accordingly. High Sunday should be 45-50 degree's with a slight chance of showers. Remember where we live, you just never know about the weather. See you then!

This is the Saturday update for the Grand Prix. The course is all laid out and ready to race. We received a few showers at the track this morning. The moisture is only about a half inch deep in the soil and then it's dry under that. It's clear and the wind is blowing a bit which will dry us up a bit. Sunday morning might be a little chilly and the ground may be frozen so come prepared. As of this post we are staying on schedule and the first race is at 9:15am. For updates or questions call Steve at 406-594-1126.

The LCRA would like to thank all the riders for coming out and racing this weekend. We had a great turnout and the conditions were perfect. Grand Prix's are so much fun and we love putting them on. Maybe some day we can get a series going with the help of some other tracks. Thanks again for coming and racing with us!
