I’m hoping that you might be able to help me spread the word among HCMA’s members about the bill and American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) contest that I give more detail on below. As you all may be aware, Rep. Rehberg has introduced the Kids Just Want to Ride Act (H.R. 412), a bill to exempt youth-model motorcycles, ATVs, and snowmobiles from the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). Denny knows how important securing this exemption is to the riding community, and I just wanted to make sure that you had the latest information on efforts to move this bill forward. As I mentioned, the AMA has announced that they will be having a Family “Capitol Hill Climb” day in support of the bill on May 26th, and in conjunction with that they are hosting a video contest for kids under the age of 12 who ride motorcycles/ATVs to show why this issue matters to them and their families. The winner of the video contest wins an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C.! Information on the contest can be found here: www.americanmotorcyclist.com/KidsJustWantToRide.aspxPlease don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about the bill, and I can direct anyone who might have questions about the contest to our friends at the AMA. Thanks in advance for your assistance in getting the word out! Kelly Pike Poulsen Legislative Assistant Rep. Denny Rehberg (Montana-At Large) 2448 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20005 202-225-3211 (phone)
